Year 10

As Year 10 students transition into senior school, leadership expectations and workloads begin to increase as they tackle more challenging subject matter.  They also have the opportunity to accelerate into a VCE or VET subject, should they show the maturity and work ethic.

Please review the subject descriptions on the Year 10, VCE and VET curriculum pages to help inform decisions about subject choices and a pathway forward.

Students can click on the link below to map out a possible journey through their senior years at Trinity College.

Year 10
Accelerated Program

Students identified as being capable in their studies have an opportunity to extend their learning through an appropriate accelerated program.  Student data and reports, together with teacher observations and recommendations, are used to identify students who may apply for, and subsequently be offered, an accelerated study opportunity.

It is the responsibility of the student to complete an application for consideration in these programs.
This application is found in SIMON school links.

  • Year 10 students may undertake VCE Unit 1 and 2 subjects or a VET subject.

  • Acceptance into all these accelerated VCE and VET programs is subject to application and an interview process.

  • Please Note: VET work is completed in addition to the Year 10 program.  Students should be aware of this additional work requirement and possess a strong work ethic to keep up in all of their studies.

  • All VET students must undertake a pathways interview with Mrs Julie Demasi to assist in their selection of a relevant course.

  • When entering Year 11, students may undertake VCE Unit 3 and 4 subjects: acceptance to this accelerated option is dependent on the students’ work ethic during Units 1 and 2 and may involve an application and interview process.

  • Year 12 students who are successful in VCE studies may apply to participate in Higher Education Studies offered through selected universities.  This option is mainly explored by high achieving students who can cope with a demanding workload. Students apply directly to the university offering the study of their choice and must seek the advice of the Director of Learning before beginning an extension study.

Students interested in a subject not offered at Trinity College must attend an interview with the Director of Learning to discuss options for Distance Education.
